Samuel S. Van Blaricom was born in 1777 in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. He married Mary Ann Strawser in Pennsylvania and they went on to have at least nine children in the Shelby, Ohio area. He took part in the War of 1812 and eventually died in 1856 in Liberty, Indiana and he is buried at Reed Cemetery in Fulton.
