Stephen G. Greenman was born approximately 1815 in New York. There isn’t much information available about him since he died so young. His parents names are unknown and there are no records of which Greenman family line he falls into.
In 1831, he married Lucinda Curtis in Rochester, New York. They went on to have five children together, all born in New York:
- Edward Greenman (b. 1832)
- Mary Greenman (b. 1837)

William H. Greenman (b. 1848)
In the 1840 census, the family is living in Cayuga, New York.
Stephen passed away in 1848 at the age of 33, leaving Lucinda, who never remarried, to raise the family. They eventually moved on first to Pennsylvania and then Illinois where the family settled.
