Gottfried “Godfrey” Frederick Faehnle was born on January 13, 1849 in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. His parents were Gottfried Faehnle and Christina Lenik, both of Württemberg, Germany. On March 30, 1880, Gottfried arrived in America aboard the ship named the SS Nederland through the district port of New York at Castle Garden.
