The Eichelberger Family Tree

The Stories and Descendants of

Phillip Frederick Eichelberger

(1693-1776)

From Ittlingen, Germany to York County, Pennsylvania to St Louis, Missouri

_____________________________________________________________________________

The Eichelberger ancestors which have been studied originate from the town of Ittlingen, Germany. Ittlingen was the home to many Eichelbergers, many of whom were related.  Beginning in the first half of the eighteenth century, herds of Germans, including many Eichelberger’s fled to America in search of religious liberation and opportunity.  Regardless of their reasons for emigration, the courage and determination it took to achieve this goal and prosper in a new and unknown society as they did, must be admired.  Even the mere travel alone was enough to keep many from crossing the Atlantic into the American frontier, but not Frederick Eichelberger.  He moved his family halfway across the world into the great unknown, trusting his strength, determination and responsibility enough to be assured that he could provide for and protect his young and growing family as they began their lives in America.  Little did he know that almost three hundred years later, his descendants number in the thousands, and continue to keep his memory and story alive.  This research covers nine generations of Eichelbergers whose journey began in Ittlingen, Germany, traveled to York County, Pennsylvania and still continues living on today in St Louis, Missouri.  Each ancestor has a story and holds a piece of the puzzle to this St Louis Eichelberger family.
