Today’s featured women from my family tree is my great-grandmother, Catherine “Kate” E Costello. She died long before my father was even born, so I obviously never even met her. Over the holidays, my husband I took a trip to New York City on vacation. We saw so many things while we were there but the one thing I was most excited to see was Castle Garden. All of my ancestors came through there and yet I know nothing about it. All you ever hear about is Ellis Island but between 1855 and 1892, over eight million people immigrated through Castle Garden. Doing family tree research can be such a rewarding experience. Many debate even starting their researching their family trees however because they are afraid of what they will find. We may not like to admit it but we all have ancestors in our family tree that are considered the “black sheep” of the tree.
